The workshop held in Lisbon, which took place between 21 and 22 October 2021, aimed, on one hand, to present the final results of the first research task of WP1, namely the respective market/discussion/finalization reports, and, on the other hand, to present the step-by-step methodological framework and discussion of different categories of the WP2 Codebook and tasks.

The sessions started with the talk, titled ‘Europeanisation: Lessons from Media History’, delivered by our colleague Stylianos Papathanassopoulos, representing the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The afternoon of the 21st was dedicated to the sharing, according to a hands-on approach session conducted by José Moreno & Rita Sepúlveda (ISCTE-IUL), of the dataset preparation and discussion of its possibilities and restraints. The questions that arose mainly concerned the type of data that each dataset contains, its meaning and what the data is used for. Suggestions on how the datasets could be shared were taken into account and reflected over in the final proceedings. This was one of the highlights of the workshop.

The next item on the meeting agenda consisted in the presentation and discussion of the Codebook categories construction. This took place on 22 October and was led by Miguel Crespo and Caterina Foà (ISCTE-IUL). This was another highlight of the workshop, having provoked intense debate and exchange of ideas on the part of colleagues. Topics broached in this discussion concerned the number, type and nature of the categories employed, the time needed for the categorisation, the order in which this could be performed, the sample over which it would be applied, and how the categorisation would benefit from returning to the project’s initial questions and stipulated objectives, namely in producing the final report on this subject.
